Spinster's Rock
Spinster's Rock is the best known of all the prehistoric chambered tombs on Dartmoor. Chambered tombs, or cromlechs, are neolithic burial monuments. They consist of a stone-built chamber with a mound covering of earth or stone. Burnard's photograph, dated 20th June 1891, shows the monument after the 1860's re-erection and restoration.
