Lew House, a.k.a Lewtrenchard Manor
The porchway to what is now known as Lewtrenchard Manor. This Jacobean Manor was built in the 1600s, includes shrub gardens and surrounding parkland set within the Dartmoor National Park. The house has been home to illustrious names, including the Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould, the renowned folklorist and hymn composer, whose list of publications includes 'Onward Christian Soldiers'. He was also Robert Burnard's friend and colleague on the Dartmoor Exploration Committee. The Manor house is still in use today, but services as a luxury hotel and restaurant.
