Holne cross

In the graveyard of St Mary the Virgin parish church in the village of Holne stands this prominent granite octagonal cross. It marks the grave of the Rev. John Gill, who was vicar of Holne from 1858 to 1917. St Mary's was built in the 14th century and much enlarged in the 16th century.
