Archerton Kist
Kist-vaens, or sometimes written as 'Cist', are ancient rectangular structures, used for burial of British chieftains. They are chest-shaped, and encase the body with a large stone cover. Upturned granite slabs mark the perimeter of the burial site, so that grassy mounds would grow around the time over time. Although this Kist-vaen has been built on the surface, they may also be found sunk into the ground. The identity of the burial remains unconfirmed.
