Church and village, Cornworthy
St. Peter's Church is the parish church of Cornworthy. The font has been dated back to the late Norman period, but the external building is mainly of 15th Century design. The interior was last restored in 1788, and having escaped Victorian renovation, preserves some wonderful Georgian pieces. Due to structural instability, and for want for general repairs, the church has been closed for public worship since 1951. The priory estate was granted, in 1560 or 1561, to the Harris and William families, but has been handed through different generations since then. The 1610 Harris memorial has since been restored in 2011, using a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
