Teignhead Bridge

3 1/4 miles S.W. from Gidleigh. A clapper bridge over the North Teign River, 1/4 mile E.N.E of Teignhead Farm; approximately 150 years old. Its erection is probably referable to the tin works existing in the valley above it. The imposts are laid in threes and number nine, of 6 ft. 6 in. total width x 28 ft. total length, at a height of 3 ft. 6 in. above average water. [O.S, 89 S.W.] Enlarged from negative by T. A. Falcon, 1899.
