Beating the Bounds 1980

Done at 7 year intervals. Each boundary stone visited by a party of walkers, to check its position. Photo is of occasion when boundary stone at Taw Marsh went missing. Looking for lost stone. On every occasion of Belstone and south Tawton beating the bounds a common boundary stone is either placed on the furthest river bank or (found there by others) thrown into the river (Bill Worthington Oct. '91).
