Flaxley church

Flaxley church was built in the mid 19th century in an earlier 14th century style and using contrasting red and grey Forest of Dean stone. An earlier church stood on the same spot and was dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. It was a gateway chapel for the Cistercian Abbey of Flaxley which was founded in c1150.
