Buckland House near Buckland Filleigh in north Devon was a preparatory school from 1942 to 1984. It now offers luxury self-catering holiday accommodation and function rooms. The present house was built in 1810 after a fire destroyed the earlier one on the site. The estate belonged to the Fortescue family for many centuries but was sold in 1880 after bankruptcy.
