1WW DEVON BOY SCOUTS COLLECTING SPHAGNUM MOSS AT PIXIES PARLOUR, OTTERY ST MARY

The sphagnum moss is being plucked from Dartmoor's bogs and shoved into sacks to be taken to the Red Cross trains that passed through Sidmouth Junction. It was then cleaned, dried and packed into dressings for use on wounded soldiers.
