PRINCETOWN PRISON QUARRY
Princetown Prison's quarry, also known as Herne Hole Quarry, is some 600m North West of the Prison gate. This image, taken from the top of the quarry face, shows the dereks used for lifting stone blocks and the watch tower manned by armed warders. The date of the postcard is not known but given the presence of the watch tower it is likely to be after 1860.
