Beating the Bounds

This photograph shows the local tradition of beating the bounds of Belstone parish during July 1951. This group had two horses called Tidy and Jimmy. It is unclear which is shown here, but it could be the mare, Tidy. The little boy having a well-earned drink is Willie May.
