The Womens Land Army played an important role in the First World War, carrying out roles that had been filled by men before they volunteered or were conscripted. Mrs Rawle is seen here c1916 with a mucking out fork and wearing her Women's Land Army uniform and sturdy lace up boots with integral ankle support. It is not known where the photograph was taken.
