Dartmoor landscape with ponies
This is a photograph of a small herd of ponies grazing on the open moor. The field pattern in the background indicates that this photograph is taken at a slightly lower location than some of the other pony photographs in this collection. Note the rough vegetation the ponies are grazing- this breed is adapted to such grazing, although in the depths of winter, the moorland vegetation is insuffucient to maintain the ponies and farmers may have to bring additional fodder as a supplement, especially when snow has fallen
