Dartmoor landscape

A general view of Dartmoor with the uncultivated rough landscape in the background and a farm in the foreground. The area of Dartmoor which is farmed has fluctuated over time, dependent upon the climatic conditions and the demand for land. The foreground of this photograph shows a farmhouse surrounded by trees, fields with hedge boundaries near the house; other fields with stone walls further away and the open moor beyond- a familiar pattern on the moor. Most of the fields appear to be for grazing.
