Hey and Saddle Tor, Dartmoor
This photograph shows the two neighbouring tors known as Heytor ( now often known as Haytor) and Saddle Tor on the south side of Dartmoor. Haytor is one of the most popular sites on Dartmoor. Both are easily accessible from the B3387. Haytor has the advantage of several carparks, toilet facilities, well marked access and spectacular views back over Bovey Tracey and to the coast at Torquay. It can become extremely crowded in the summer months. The surrounding area has interesting industrial remains. There are several quarries nearby and remains of the granite railway, which was used to transport granite off the moor. Saddle Tor, a little further along the road, is also easily accessible.
