Fice's Well
Fice's Well is located about 1 1/2 miles N of Princetown in what was previously the grounds of Dartmoor Prison. The well is supposed to have been erected by John Fitze of Fitzford. Burnards summary of the legend about the well is that John Fitze 'and his wife when riding on Dartmoor were pixyled. Discovering this spring they both slaked their thirst when the pixey spell was removed. In gratitude John Fitze erected this well. The inscription is J.F. 1568'.
