Bridge at Postbridge

A large (for Dartmoor) stone bridge. Believed to be at Postbridge, where the B3212 road crosses the East Dart river. The B3212 is one of the major cross-moor routes, running from Exeter over the moor to Yelverton. This 'modern' bridge was built in the 1780's; the famous medieval clapper bridge lies a few yards from the 18th century bridge, which was designed to carry wheeled traffic. Postbridge is a small hamlet but is very popular with visitors to Dartmoor. The clapper bridge is one of the most photographed views on Dartmoor. Postbridge lies in the centre of the moor, and, although small, has facilities for visitors such as refreshments and a seasonal tourist information centre
